Random Post #1

I’m excited… my friends actually read my blog! I didn’t think any of them ever did, but I had a couple of them come up to me today and tell me that they liked it. I’m just glad to know that some of them are interested enough to even look. Yay for friends!

And I finally got a new laptop- the one I’ve been needing ever since the screen went out on my last computer. I now have a photo editing program, and Microsoft Word (which I sorely missed after it somehow got deleted on my last laptop). Along with that I also got a printer so that I will no longer have to go into my parents’ bedroom to print homework assignments, which is also AWESOME. It is defintely a pain to move all of my stuff off of the old computer, but well worth it.

I have also managed to find the time to work on re-reading The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks. This is the book that made me fall in love with fantasy novels, and even inspired me to write my own. Terry Brooks is amazing, having published about thirty books (most of which I have read and now have sitting on my bookshelf). The majority of the books are in the Shannara series, which I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy and anyone else who simply enjoys a good adventure novel. He also has a book out titled Sometimes the Magic Works that relates his journey to becoming a writer and many tips on becoming a good writer. It has provided me with the means to build a foundation for my own writings.

P.S. If you haven’t figured it out already he’s my favorite author, just ahead of Terry Goodkind and Mercedes Lackey.
